Beginner ASL - Thursday afternoons: Ages 6-8 (Part 1)
ASL is easy to learn, comes in handy and is a fun way to communicate. ASL Part 1 is an exciting and interactive class for those who want to learn American Sign Language! Students will learn to sign the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, colors, animals, favorite foods, emotions, family relationships, etc. They will be introduced to basic grammar, fingerspelling, signing simple conversations and much more!
"Biblical Virtues" with LaDonna Andreu - Thursday afternoons: Ages 6-8 and 9-11
Virtues often determine a child's future. Failure to develop Biblical virtues can lead to selfish behavior, poor choices and lots of unhappiness. These 12 important Biblical virtues will help build the character and integrity needed to achieve true success and build strong relationships: Gentleness, Self-Control, Diplomacy, Contentment, Humility, Optimism, Love Forgiveness, Persistence, Patience, Faithfulness, and Responsibility
Camp Games! - with Andrew and Moriah Willis. Thursdays: all age groups 6-8, 9-11, 12-15
During these special times of FUN and GAMES, your children will get to expend their energy on a various assortment of the amazing activities Camp Gilead has to offer! With adult supervision, they will enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, Creation Station (animals!), archery, riflery, tomahawks, gagaball, 9-square, carpetball, ping pong, basketball, putt-putt golf, sand volleyball, and more!
Crazy Crafts with Nurse Amy - Thursday mornings: all age groups 6-8, 9-11, 12-15
Calling all creative kids! Come one, come all, and make a beautiful mess! For all those crafts you always wanted to do, but they were too messy to make at home - have we got the class for you!!!
Everything Cookie - with Nurse Amy - Thursday afternoons: Ages 6-8
Come learn to read recipes and make accurate measurements! Each week bring home a new set of cookies with the recipe... Hands On!!! You make it! You Bake it!
Gardening/Botany with Nurse Amy - Thursday afternoons: Ages 6-8 and 9-11
Come get your hands dirty and learn about the phases of a plant's life, from pollination to germination, about photosynthesis and the tropisms. Become a Botanist with the knowledge of fantastic plants and how to grow them!!!
Geography & Mapping with Karen Williams - Thursday mornings: Ages 6-8 and Ages 9-11
Create a Country Project (Ages 6-8) This is a hands-on and fun class that will focus on learning about our country’s culture, climate, symbols, government, traditions, resources, transportation, housing, language, etc. Join us on this creative adventure as we “create a country” while learning about this wonderful place God created for us to live.
Getting to know the USA (Ages 9-11) This is a hands-on and fun class that will introduce the key elements of mapping, along with teaching the states and their capitals using “Trick Geography" -making things what they’re not so you remember what they are! Join us as we engage in learning about this wonderful place God created for us to live.
Health: Our Amazing Bodies with Nurse Amy - Thursday afternoons: Ages 9-11
"Check yourself before you wreck yourself!" An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! We will be learning how to combat disease, stay healthy (nutrition, fitness, and general hygiene), and be a courteous child of God (etiquette)!!!
Zoology with Wilderness Will - Thursday afternoons: Ages 6-8, 9-11, 12-15
Are you an animal lover at heart? Come join us to unlock the scientific backbone and show how God marvelously created His creatures to display His awesome majesty using design and adaptation to prove His creation!!!
Lego Robotics with Chris Wright - Thursday mornings: Ages 9-11, 12-15 (additional cost for robotic kit)
Students will learn the basics of coding and develop creative problem-solving skills as they have fun building and interacting with Legos and other buildable robots. *Each student must provide his/her own Lego robot kit, available on Amazon.
Maintenance 101 with Chris Wright - Thursday mornings: Ages 12-15
Students will learn the basics of household maintenance in areas of plumbing, electrical, flooring, appliance repair, painting, and much more. We hope this session will give each student the confidence they need to tackle an at-home project with their parents. Who knows, maybe they will get the opportunity to teach their parents in the process!
